Mahesh Babu to start Dhookudu

Now that his forthcoming film Khaleeja is getting ready to hit the screens, Mahesh Babu, one of the top heroes of Tollywood, is gearing up for his next, titled Dhookudu.

The new movie will be directed by none other than Srinu Vytla and it will go on floors on October 1, sources in the know say. ‘It is going to be a high voltage entertainers which would please all sections of the audience,’ they add.

Produced by 14 Reels Entertainment, the movie will start its shooting in Ahmedabad, it is said. Samantha is the heroine. ‘The movie will shape up fast and will hit the screens in summer 2011,’ sources claim.

A host of renowned celebrites including ace singer S P Balasubrahmanyam has been selected for Dr Akkineni Lifetime Achievement Awards by cultural organisation Rasamayi.

The awards will be presented in view of the 87th birthday of veteran actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao on September 20.

The other winners of the award include president of the World Telugu Federation V L Indira Dutt, devotional singer Shobha Raju, Andhra Saraswata Parishath’s general secretary Elluri Shiva Reddy and writer K V Krishna Kumari.

They will be presented with a Swarna Kankanam and a memento at a function to be held at Ravindra Bharathi on September 20

Chandramukhi in Bengaluru

Venkatesh is busy with the sequel to the super hit Chandramukhi, which is in the final stages of shooting.

Earlier this week, the unit has left for Bengaluru to can some important scenes. Before that, a major schedule was finished near Vijayanagaram in Andhra Pradesh.

Directed by P Vasu and produced by Bellamkonda, the film has Venkatesh playing the protagonist while Anushka, Richa and Kamalinee are playing important characters.
